.UPDATE...
Issued at 741 PM CST Fri Feb 21 2025
Little changes to the forecast package this evening with very
quiet weather in store. Temperatures are chilly at this hour in
the 20s to low-30s, and temperatures will continue to fall under
clear skies and light winds. Lows tonight will bottom out in the
teens, but a warming trend continues Saturday. Winds will become
westerly, and despite a few more clouds, we`ll warm up into the
40s.
&&
.SHORT TERM...
(Rest of today through Saturday)
Issued at 1105 AM CST Fri Feb 21 2025
After a cold morning in the single digits, temperatures have warmed
into the 20s. Looking at visible satellite, the leftover snow is
mainly confined to the Highland Rim and the upper plateau. Full sun
and temperatures in the 30s this afternoon will help continue the
melting process. Tonight will be another cold night with high
pressure overhead. Lows area wide look like they`ll fall into the
teens. The warming process continues on Saturday with highs about
10 degrees warmer. There will be a few more mid and high level
clouds around as a dry shortwave moves across the area.
&&
.LONG TERM...
(Saturday Night through next Friday)
Issued at 1105 AM CST Fri Feb 21 2025
The warming trend continues in the extended forecast. Sunday will
see plenty of sunshine with surface high pressure over the area.
Highs Sunday afternoon will be in the mid 40s to lower 50s. By
Monday, we pick up a southerly fetch to the low level winds which
will boost the warming trend. Some locations will reach 60 degrees
on Monday and the entire area will be in the 60s on Tuesday and
Wednesday. The next rain chance continues to be late Wednesday
through Thursday as a trough swings through the northern
plains/Great Lakes dragging a cold front through our area. This will
end the warming trend with cooler temperatures on Thursday.
